Outdoor Retailer Report and Our First Sales to Retailers!

Outdoor Retailer Report and Our First Sales to Retailers!

It’s been a minute since Paradis Sport was at Outdoor Retailer (OR) in Salt Lake City.  We are thrilled to announce that our products are now available at Core72 in Washington DC, at The Running Hub Santa Fe, and Southwest Runners in Farmington, NM. We are about to ship our first international order to Wild Earth, a specialty store with two locations in Australia!

For those who are not familiar with OR, it’s the biggest trade show of the year for the outdoor industry. New brands (like us!) had the opportunity to showcase products in the “New @ OR” section, while some of the biggest players in the industry display their tried-and-true products alongside their new gear.  One of the most exciting moments of the show was meeting Carli Lloyd and discovering that this soccer legend agrees female athletes need great undies for sports.

We saw tons of new material and design innovations. Here are a few of the most exciting products at the show:

Butler Technologies Slim, stretchable biometric sensors and circuits that can move with the body using innovative screen printing technology and cutting-edge conductive inks.  Here they are applied to men's base layers to track biometric data during training and competition. This technology has not yet been applied to women's base layers. Hmmm...

Tru Zip (made by Nite Ize):  A new waterproof and dust-proof zipper. It’s silent, easy to operate, and now used for pouches and phone cases. Simms Fishing Products now makes duffel bags with it that are fully submersible - perfect for fishing or rafting trips.

Acteevis a breakthrough technology that harnesses the natural antimicrobial power of zinc by destroying odor- and mildew-causing bacteria and fungi. Acteev supplies yarn for Oomla socks with zinc fibers that resist odor to produce socks that don’t stink!

In addition to these products, there was an awesome lecture series at the Community Action Center featuring progressive Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall, pro athlete and activist Caroline Gleich, and Cotopaxi founder Davis Smith.  We can't wait for the next OR show!
