Paradis Sport is excited to announce Kait Miller as our newest member of the ambassador program. Miller grew up in Elmore, VT, a small town near Stowe, where she was raised in the local cross country ski community. As a child, she joined the Bill Koch Youth Ski League where she began ski racing. Although Miller competed, she viewed racing as a hobby since skiing was a part of everyday life in her childhood community. In 2007-2008, she was named a Vermont High School Nordic Division III champion, and from 2007-2010 she qualified for the Eastern High School cross country championships. Miller earned the chance to compete in the cross country Junior Olympics from 2006-2010, and she earned her spot as a junior national champion in 10K classic and in classic sprint in 2010. Miller continued skiing at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine from 2011 to 2014 where she qualified twice for NCAAs and was elected team captain her senior year.
After college, Miller joined the Craftsbury Green Racing Project (GRP) ski team. She admired the GRP’s community involvement and aligned well with the club’s values. Miller had no set expectations of taking her career to the next level, however after only two years with the Craftsbury GRP, she qualified for her first World Cup in the 2016 ski season. This opened up a window of opportunity for Miller and showed that she could professionally pursue skiing. In spring of 2016, she competed in Ski Tour Canada, and in 2018, Miller qualified for the US Olympic team. She also competed in the 2020 American Birkebeiner, her last ever domestic ski race, where she placed 4th. Miller notes this as one of her most memorable races because of the esteemed competition and her unexpected success in the skate event. Throughout her career, Miller competed in 33 World Cups, earned 1 national championship, and 7 podiums.
Recently, Miller has taken on trail running as her new pursuit. She picked up trail running during the COVID-19 pandemic and, after a year of running on her own, she started entering competitions. Miller placed 7th at the 2021 USATF 50K trail nationals, and is now training for another season. She also enjoys mountain biking, gravel riding, and backcountry skiing. An avid outdoorswoman, her other hobbies include camping and canoeing. Miller’s undergraduate studies were in biology, environmental studies and visual art, and she brings these interests together now through knitting, block printing, drawing, sketching, and graphic design. She uses her graphic design skills to create patch designs for a VT company called Outpatch. Miller’s keen interest in fibers and sustainability make her the ideal ambassador and partner in developing Paradis Sport’s two natural fiber products that are currently in development.
Outside of sports, Miller works for the New England Nordic Ski Association (NENSA) where she is the Youth and Introductory Program Director. She enjoys coaching young athletes and loves helping within her community. We are so proud of Miller and very excited to welcome her to the ambassador program. We believe her strong sense of community and love for the outdoors will make her a great addition to the Paradis ambassador team.
