Outdoor enthusiast Hillary McCloy joins the Paradis Pros, bringing a range of experience to our ambassador program. McCloy grew up in southern VT where her local elementary school schedule included winter afternoons on the slopes of Mt. Snow. She was a member of the alpine ski team at University of Vermont and received first team NCAA All-American honors four years in a row. She was also a 5-year member of the US Alpine Ski Team and Noram Cup Overall Champion. When Guillain-Barre syndrome cut her ski career short, she pursued a Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, CA.
McCloy now runs her own physical therapy practice, Hilary McCloy PT, in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. This work has led her on a mission to educate fellow athletes on their bodies and how they relate to sports, enabling them to take ownership while staying healthy and strong. Her philosophy as a running coach is to work on the whole runner. She does this by: assessing and treating any strength/mobility imbalances; improving gait mechanics and efficiency when running flats, ups, or downs; making sure the plan fits in with the rest of her clients’ priorities in life; and keeping it fun. She also offers online conditioning programs (Run Strong, Powder Hour and Nordic Powder Hour) for anyone who is looking to get in shape for running or ski season.
Athletically, McCloy has shifted from alpine skiing to more endurance-focused pursuits by running ultras and spending long days in the mountains running, hiking, backcountry skiing, and biking. She is passionate about environmental advocacy and is an ambassador for Protect Our Winters (POW). In addition to all this great work, she is an educational speaker, involved in Eastern Snow and Avalanche Workshops, and has co-hosted yoga and backcountry skiing retreats. We feel very lucky to welcome this multi-talented athlete who loves giving back to her community to the Paradis Pro family!
